Acreage Survey Is

Postmaster Carol Miller announced today that several farmer-patrons on the Rural Route originating from Washington, Va. will receive 1966 Acreage Survey Cards from their carriers on or about September 16.
Acreage cards returned by farmers to their carriers will be mailed directly to the Virginia Crop Reporting Service in Richmond. Information from each card, if properly reported, will then be tabulated and combined with other reports to give indications of changes in acreages of crops harvested. Using these facts, estimates of acreages for the Old-Do m i n i on’ s principal crops will be made. Other surveys will provide the Crop Reporting Service with information on yields. So, if next week you find in your mail box a card titled *1966 Acreage Survey," don’t put it aside. Postmaster Miller urges that you fill out the card and return it to your carrier. This is important since only a given number of farmers will receive these cards, and your community will be represented according to the number of cards returned.
