they should proceed by the Fin House with caution. This agreement makes the county liable in case of certain accidents and in a way puts the county in the insurance business. Commonwealth’s Attorney Davis stated that the county cannot enter the insurance business. Tin agreement also requires the county to bear the cost in case the lights need to be moved. The Board of Supervisors could not agree to these provisions of the agreement.
One animal claim wee submitted with approval by Dof Warden Jack Bruce. The Board approved payment of $30 for a shoat killed by dogs.
O. A. Norton, Superintendent of Schools inquired as to budget proceedings, stating is was difficult to recruit faculty members until advised of a salary scale, or amount specified for instruction. The Clerk noted tbgt the budget was nearing completion and would be ready for committee approval soon. ^
It was noted that Judge R. V. Snead had requested some book shelves installed, some chatty repaired and a table for the juty room. Approval was voiced in this matter. The necessity of a regular janitor for the county buildings was brought to the attention of the group and a discussion resulted in setting a salary of $100 per month for cleaning, dusting, window care, etc. on a regular basis and payment of $1.50 per hour for additional work, which primarily concerns the keeping of the grounds. When prison labor is available it is used for grounds care, however, this is not constant.
Accounts were approved for payment before adjournment was in motion.
Benefit Heart Fund
Game Night will be held Saturday, March 14 at the Flint Hill fire hall from 8 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Heart Fund and the event is sponsored by the Flint Hill Fire Department. The Heart Fund has in the past made numerous contributions to local emergency units in the county. It is hoped that the public will attend the Game Night and support the firemen and the Heart Fund.
Washington Baptist Church Notices
Dr. James R. Bryant of Richmond will conduct services at the Washington Baptist Church, Sunday, March 15 at 11 a.m.
On Sunday, March 22 there will be a special business meetipg at the Washington Baptist Church following Sunday School.
