inflation, Williams said “Economic burdens fall harder and harder upon those least able to bear them.” He assailed government waste and added, “Too often, blind extravagance has smothered prudent judgment of what is really needed for our national wellbeing.”
He spoke of his first-hand knowledge of the problems of the farm community, saying that farmers are being “squeezed In the middle” by rising food prices on the one hand and the cost of their tools and supplies on the other.
The new candidate also mentioned the need for mote industry to bolster the economy of the District. “This is the only way that our young high school and college graduates can be encouraged to seek careers at home.”
Williams said he hopes to enlist the support of the delegates to the convention who will be chosen in the next two months.
