Established by Witold Kuncewicz, the Virginia International Equipment Corporation has located in the building which formerly housed Blue Ridge Fruit Growers, next to the Coop. Here, the manufacture of “Twinoactors” takes place. This is a machine for compacting soil or asphalt, and might be described as a miniature “steam roller.”
The “Twinpactor,’’.which comes in a riding unit or a walking unit, is “a high frequency vibratory double drum roller that achieves fast compaction.” This is the firstU.S. tion.” This is the first U.S. - designed and built machine with double drums. It is being used in the Metro construction in the District of Columbia by Norair Engineering Corp., and by W. L. Ridder of Warrenton on road work and other projects.
Other vibrators of this nature have ordinarily used only one drum with the high frequency unit.
