FESTIVITIES at the annual Flint Hill Firemen’s carnival were initiated Wednesday night with a display of fireworks viewed by a large crowd. A mamouth parade is scheduled for tonight (Thursday).

The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m., a half hour earlier that previous years. “Miss Virginia,” Elinda Vandeventer of Pulaski, will lead the parade, which will have at least 15 units entered. Bands, majorettes, fire and rescue equipment, floats and beauty aueens will complete the lineup. The Tam O’ Shanters all-girl drum and fife Kiltie Kadet Corps will also be featured in the parade. The Corps has head quarters in Somerset, Pa.

Prizes to be awarded Friday night are a black Angus heifer, if weather permits, along with a second prize given by Wall’s Jewelers in Front Royal
