Democrat Anita Haitke of Amissville - running for CongmK against iacmatiwnt Em- Caixtur - significant gains against the Congressman over the last three challengers, but still came up short with 37 percent of the 7th District vote. In Rappahannock. Hartke received 4b percent of the vote.
Virginia, which had not voted for a Democrat in presidential elections since 1964, had turned blue, making Virginia the only southern state except Florida to vote for Obama.
