party, an organic fanning workshop, a children’s ballet, an auto show, concerts, regular six-county conferences - and is available for weddings and bar mitzvahs? All those different activities conducted under the same roof? Could such a magical place exist in Rappahannock County?
It could, and it does. And this month marks the first anniversary of this new venture in an old place in Sperryville: The Link.
It used to be called the Schoolhouse, but has been the Link now for a year. Even though there is a big new sign on the building, lots of folks still stop by thinking it is a store, as it used to be.
The Link is the home of the Rappahannock NonProfit Center (RNPC). Several years ago, as the new century arrived, some people in the county had noticed that many non-profit organizations needed help recruiting members, raising funds, and planning. Among those who planted the seeds of a center where non-profits could gather and be served is Linda Dietel, who said the “RNPC came about as an answer to a need expressed by a number of Rappahannock volunteer and nonprofit groups for a way to strengthen and inform their organizations and increase their effectiveness.”
The executive director of the RNPC is Melanie Kopjanski, who points out that the center serves communities of the arts, agriculture, business, education, conservation and churches,
