With a mind as clear as a whittle and an eye artwinkle with fun, James A. Estes of Spe rryvillo PV*s the following as his sun* mary of a happy life: “I've tried to serve my Lord, raise my fam* ily, and tend to my own businoM.*

Mr. Estes’ 87 years seem to rest easily mpon him. He will stats that hit memory isn’t good, butt he’ll recite the names of the 12 men in the Sperryville ‘band, organized in 1888, and he’ll give the name of the instrument each man played.

‘‘It wasn’t any trouble to organize the band,” says Mr. Bate* 1'There were plenty of- youag people in the neighborhood and the other folks helped ont in the expenses.

“Now, Jim Yates played’ the first cornet. He was a natural* born musician and I guess he could play that horn all day long after he got his lips set.

“J. t>. Daugherty of Suffolk was our director. He taught here for two sessions, must have been1 about 1886 or 1B87. He -waa a gentleman and a fine municta&i taught k\\ the instruments, tut " tdayed *!he violin.”

Trinity Auxiliary ./ ’’

The former Trinity Guild waa changed to the 'Woman’s AuviU iary of Trinity church at the meeting held yesterday afternoon.

Dr. Pendleton gave a very instructive talk on the auxiliary work. Officers are: Mrs. J. W. Price, president; Mrs. W. F. Moffett, Jr., vice-president; Mrs. R. V. Snead, secretary; Mrs. R. L. Massie, treasurer; Mrs. C. J. Miller, devotional secretary; Mrs, G, H. Davis, Jr., educational secpfr*. ■tary; Miss Lucelia Peyton, blue, box; Mrs. J. W. Critzer, periodical secretary; and Mrs. T. C. bee, altar secretary.
