Lea Settles Argument
E. M. Jones tried to inform T, C. <Lea that there was an «u|-, geration in Lea Bros, advertisement in Rappahannock News last week: “You haven’t been here in business any 21 years,” asserted the dou'btfuiTjJed, “because 1 remember* tl^,first Christmas this store was open, and you. know I’m not old enough to -remember that far back. Why! I would have been a babe in arms!”
‘‘Well,” says Lea, “if you think about it that way, was only five years old myself when I opened the store.”
“No joking,” stated Mr. Lea, “the store will be 22 years old on January 10.”
J^ng&gement Announced
Mr. and Mrs. John Richard Harris of Croton, Connecticut, have announced the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Miss Freda Noami McDade, to William Godfrey "White, son of #Mr. and Mrs. William F. White*, also of Groton.
Miss McDade was graduated from Williams. Memorial Institute in June and is employed by the Electric Boat Co. Mr. White, who served in the Navy during the war, is a senior at University of Connecticut and will receive his “degree Tinfune. ' * ''
Miss M?l>ade has visited relatives in the county with her parents. Her stepfather is the brother of Mrs. Elizabeth DeBergh and Mrs. B. R. Cox.
