Our Righto and Duties
To a certain degree, the citizens of a Republic get the kind of government they deserve, - and the mess in which America wallows today is partly the fault of the voters. ' “Partly” to voters is the only fair way to state it, for Congress cannot be Absolved eqftirely. One naturally assumes that each of the men and women elected to Congress has familiarized hiqiself or herself with the text of that great document—the Constitution. It says regarding Congress:
“All legislative power herein .granted shall be vested in a Congress of- the United - States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.” . Regarding the duties and pre- , rogatives of the President, the Constitution reads:
He shall from time to time give to the Congress « information of the state of the Union, ’ and RECOMMEND to their con. sideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and exped-. ient.” •
