From the Virginia Cooperative Crop Reporting Service, “Virginia: Total liveweight of cattle, calves, hogs and sheep and lambs slaughtered in July was 18% more than in July 1952. The number of cattle slaughtered in July was 58% greater than a year ago; number of calves 50% greater, number of sheep and lambs 37 % greater; and the number of hogs the same as last year. The average weight of cattle and calves slaughtered in July was higher than a year earlier, "but weights of hogs and sheep, lighter.
United States: The July output was the same as June but was 16% more than the 1,576 million pounds produced in July 1952.
