“Open Home” Honoring Elder and Mrs. J. H. Daily
Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Durden entertained at “Open House” on Sunday in the Daily home in honor of their , parents’, Elder and Mrs. J. Harvey Daily, who celebrated their Golden _Wedding Anniversary. In the receiving line with Eld. and Mrs. Daily were Mrs. Daily’s sister and brother, .Mrs, Maude Dempsey and Arthur Marsh, and Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Durden. ——The home was tastefully and beautifully decorated with yellow and bronze chrysanthemums by Mrs. Dempsey and James Low, who also took pictures during the reception. The dining room was attractively decorated by Mrs. Durden( Bonnie) and Miss Justine Lockheart with vases of vari-colored mums and other fall flowers arranged in profusion. Mrs. J. M. Durden, assisted by Miss Lockheart, Mrs. W. Daily, and Miss Vera Ridwell at the punch bowl served refreshments to more than two hundred guests during the afternoon from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10. Elder James Harvey Daily and Miss Selena T. Marsh were married on November 22, 1903 in Greenfield, Indiana by the Elder John N. Thompson. Elder Daily is pastor of Thornton Gap Primitive Baptist church and has made his home in Sperryville for a number of years
- The high li^ht of the occasion was the surprise arrival of Mrs. Daily’s brother, Mr. Arthur Marsh, who had not visited her for twenty years. The -honorees received many lovely gifts.
