Laing, Sr.

W. A. Laing Sr., of Amissville, died MondayJuly 19, at _^Physicians Hospital in Warren ton following a brief illness.

Mr. Laing was born in Ireland in May 1875. He came to this country in 1908 and made his home in Millbrook, New York. He established and operated riding clubs in Millbrook and Coapers,.j town, New York; Hyannisport and Nantucket, Massachusetts; Princeton, New Jersey ; Southern ._Pines, North Carolina; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Battle - Creek, Michigan and Greenwich, Connecticut.

In 1924, Mr. Laing came to . Virginia. He operated a stock farm in Amissville until his death. His wife, Eileen Garvey died in 1940 and a son, Noel Laiqg^ who was a steeplechase jockey, died in 1936. _—_ Mr. Laing was a member of the Rappahannock Hunt Club, Mill- ™ „ brook Hunt Club, Moore County x Hunt Club and The National Steeplechase and Hunt Association. He was a Lieutenant in the Calvary during the Boer War under His Majesty King George
