Four Plainfield, N. J. residents were injured, one fatally, in a single-vehicle ^ccident on U.S. 522, near Ben Venue, Sunday' morning, July 18.

The Washington Rescue Squad' arrived on the scene shortly after the accident occurred, around 11:30^ o’clock Sunday, and rushed several of the injured to the Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal.

Mrs. E m e 1 i n e Thompson Manning, 58, died Tuesday morning at 8 o’clock in Warren Memorial Hospital,* from injuries incurred in the accident. Both legs and her left arm were broken. Her condition was pronounced critical at her entrance to the hospital.

Also injured in the accident were her daughter, Mrs. Ralph .MerritU^W-ho suffered .extensive, lacerations, and Mr. Merritt, who was treated for a broken jaw, and their eight-year-old daughter, Nancy. The little girl underwent an operation in Children’s Hospital, Washington, D. C. for a fractured skull. The three members of the family are recovering from their injuries.

Mr. Merritt is associated with the Bell Telephone Company.
