Here are the facts behind the plans drawn up thus far:
“The presidents of the countyV four banks and the members of the board of supervisors, serving as a committee to retain the hospital in operaton, examined very carefully the possibility of erecting a new hospital. They concluded that it would be impossible to raise the large sum necessary to build and— operate a new hospital, even with available Federal ' government money. They concluded that it would take two or three years to have a new hospital in operation, whereas the need is immediate. They concluded, finally, that the sensible and hardheaded thing to do would be to buy the present hospital and its equipment, put it into operation, and then make plans for a new hospital to be erected in the future. A basis for these plans is the committee’s firm belief that the hospital property, when a new hospital can be built, can be sold for as much or more than the amount which will be paid for the real estate.
As for operation of the hospital, , it is to be vested in a board of trustees, serving without pay, appointed without regard to politics or any other factors except qualification as public spirited citizens who will make good trustees. The hospital will be run not by a doctor but by a hospital administrator
