The Woodville-Mt. Juniors, the Shiloh W the Stanardsville Senioi Softball diampionships Association’s tournament last Saturday. In games played at Old Hickory Grill, the Woodville-Mt. Lebanon team won over .Washington Juniors by a score I of 10-5. Although Paul Burke gave up only 5 hits, the eight walks surrendered figured in 5 runs scored by the winners. Bobby Leake scored three runs on a triple and two walks, while Maurice Lee Butler and Russell Jenkins both scored two runs on a triple and walk each, to pace the winners. Washington outhit the winners eight hits to five, but Bernard Burke was able to space four walks and pitched effectively when it counted most. He was aided by a fine catch in the 4th inning the bases loaded Steve Butler raced to left center to pull in a liber and double a runner off second base.

The Shiloh Women’s tejam unloaded a ,22 hit barrage against

Marion Watson, and wtnj on to win handily over Stanardsville by a score of 12 to 2. “Babe” Ruth of Shiloh hit a grand slam hoiher for Shiloh. For Shiloh it was 12 runs oa. 22 Juts, and Stanardsville collected 2 runs on 11 hits. [It was; an exciting contest foftv thjt first, four frames, but Shiloh’s big bats continued to hammer away at the offerings of Watson and broke the game open in the 6th ipning. Several fine defensive playsj were turned in by both teams, and the game was interesting throughout.

In the day’s finale, a strong Stanardsville team stunned h fine Brandy team, the score being 5 to 3. The game was a thriller all the way, with the outcome always in doubt down to the wire. Harold Estes, always cool and delilierate on the mound, spaced 6 hits well, in registering the win. His se won’s record was 8 wins against 2 losses, including two fine tournament performances. He was aided-Sat irday by the potent bat of Tiny Breeden, Stanardsville’s fine catcher, udiose two hits for three appearances always came in the clutch. Stanardsville won on 9 hits, good for 5' runs. Leading the batting attack for the losers were Frank Jenkins and Jim Bazzle who got twe| hits each.

Bubby Hitt, Brandy’s pitcher, hit a bases-empty homer for losers.
