Broiler prices probably will hold about steady at 26 to 27 cents in Virginia this week, as buyers load up for the Labor Day week-end.

Hog prices look like they have passed the peak of their mid* August spurt, and ate headed dowrn. The Virginia auction average was off 20 cents last week to $17.35, and western markets were off 50 cents to $1630 to $l6.75.' :,li
Cooler weather plus a promotion campaign after Labor Day may help hold hog prices up, but the season trend, hastened by a bigger spring pig crop, is dowrn.
There may be some fluctuations from time to time, but not enough to balance off extra 'feed. Push hogs to sell finished at 180-200 pounds. , •
