CORN
New corn is beginning ito move to market in Eastern Virginia, with Norfolk quoting $1.20 a bushel for shelled U- S.' Number 2 yellow at 15% per cent moisture.
This means a farmer-with shelled corn straight from the. field at 22 to 25% moisture will get about 85 cents to $1 a bushel when discounted for moisture.
There ought to be more money than that in corn fed to hogs, even with low hog prices this fall, and perhaps more still in cattle, i.
As more com comes to market, chances are even that price will decline. Bigger yields in Western r Virginia probably will balance out loses in the east from rain and ! wind. ,|- ! ■ Wl'-. [
