Fire broke out in a small hay
barn on the property of C.jf. Miller, Jr., in Washington, around 9 o’clock Sunday morning, necessitating the calling out of the fire company, who fought to saye the larger bam nearby. William Roy and Junior tarter were feeding the stock when they saw smoke, followed quickly by a blaze. Junior ran into the barn 'and started to throw out the blazing hay. Seeing the headway the fire had gained, and realizing his efforts futile, he hurried to the home of Mr. Miller and the fire department was notified. *• When the firemen arrived on the scene, they immediately began wetting down the large; bam, which was sizzling hot from the heat of flames from the smaller building, only 15^feet away. They succeeded in saving the large; bam.
