BROILERS

Broiler prices should be steady to stronger this week. They have been on the upswing since the low the week of November 4 as supplies continued to decline. ,i

Last week they took their usual pre-Thanksgiving dip of one to two rents, reaching 19 to 20 in Virginia, 21 in North Carolina and 20 cents in Georgia.

This week', supplies will still be about 5 per cent above’ last year and storage about 15 per “cent below last year,, with demand generally strong, but a bit uncertain after the hojiday. 1 ~r

Processors' ’ will be back on broilers^ this week after the rush of turkeys. In past years, this has sometimes/brought a little rise in the market the week after Thanksgiving, sometimes not.

CATTLE There is an item worth .considering for next year. Choice and prime grain-fed steers at Chicago last week were $1 to $2 higher, selling at $19 to $23.25, and a load of choice grain fed steers brought $22 to $23 at Winchester.
