A cold night greeted the dano era, with ,a sprinkling of mow falling at intervals. . As the ladies entered the hall; they were presented with tiny yellow chrysanthemum corsages, by Mrs, Wade Pullen’s daughters.
The large hall was lovely with . garlands of green and gold crepe paper decorating the ceiling, and arrangements of holly on thestage. Friends who “just came towatch” and dancers “worn out by a bunny hop” $at around chatting, lending a friendly atmosphere. i „ . ,
During the intermission H. S. Barksdale presented a watch to Mrs. G. W. Smith, holder of the lucky number for the door prize, a gift of Rufus Wall’s Jewelry Store in Front Royal.
Mrs. Robert L. Massif, who gave the land foil the fire hall, was introduced by the master of ceremonies, as was also James W. Fletcher of SperryviUe. Mr. Fletcher, in turn, presented Representative Burr P. Harrison. Rep. Harrison threatened to discuss the tariff for an hour or so,. but actually made a short complimentary statement on the progress made in the community, evident in the building of die fire hall. He pointed out the dependance of the town on the fire department and in turn,' the department’s dependance on the town.
As the Flint HjU Fire Company was organized and has since grown in a spirit of friendly cooperation, so was the official opening of the Flint Hill Fireball., , ,
