Let*8 Not Forget

Rights Of Others

Thi* country wu founded on the basis of respect for individual rights. The press has always played an important part in maintaining these rights.

Yet there are times, especially when our nation is threatened by a strong outside force, when some of these rights seem to be forgotten, or at least pushed aside “for security reasons."

Fortunately, there are enough watchdogs to prevent this type of thing, from going too far. r Herbert Brucker, editor of the ■ Hartford, Conn., Courant, brought this subject up at the recent press institute of the Ohio State university school of journalism.

Mr. 5 Brucker said confusion . about Communism has caused the principle of freedom to be violated, in many cases, in this country.

He urged his audience to remember that some .Communists may also support good ideas, and ' that, if they do, this doesn’t brand the idea bad, per#se.
