A majority of 7th Congressional District voters replying to my recent questionaire favored liberalization pf the social security system :
“Do you favor extending social security, of an equivalent plan, to professional groups notnow covered?”
Of those answering, 52 per cent said "Yes”; 30 per cent said “No” and 18 were undecided.
“Do you favor making women eligible for old-age insurance benefits under social security at 62, instead of 65, and disabled persons at 50, with an increase of one-half, per cent in your social security tax?”
Of those replying, 63 per cent said “Yes”; 25 per cent said “No” and 12 per cent were undecided.
These questions represent changes in the law which passed the House last year and now are pending in the Senate.
