1956 Program

The Rappahannock Extension j Forestry Committee in session re- 8 cently in the county agent’* office in Washington, decided to expand Ha program this year by establish* ing the following goals:.

I. Conduct timber stand im-1 provement demonstration (also in. November) emphasising poisoning of undesirable hardwood* too small for fuel and spot planting. Generally speaking the committee feels there is great potential in Rappahannock farm woodlands. One committeeman stated that ‘‘many men invest in life insurance but would never be here to reap the benefits but that a few realised the insurance and stability available through a sound forestry program where the “premiums1' grew steadily smaller while the “face value” of growing stand grew larger, ";4 .Shewn below is w part of the* committee discunring a chart of ; Rappahannock timber ■•’potential, presented by Carl J. The Flint Hill PTA met on Tuesday, March 27 at Flint Hill School. An Easter Party was planned for, the school children for Thursday, March 29th. A resolution was passed to join the other County PTA’s in forming a county council made up of PTAl presidents and one other member. This council will fheet once each quarter and take uj> problems of mutual interest.

Mr. Q. D. Gasque addressed the group on Teacher Recruit ment.
