The Rappahanock County High School opened the 1956-57 session Tuesday morning with all teachers positions filled and with three hundred twenty-four pupils present, eighty-eight ’ in the three primary grades and two hundred fifty-six in the high school department. A half dozen or so more children are expected to enroll in . the three lower grades and about twentv-five more high school pu- * pils.. The school is more crowded this year than at any time since the consolidation inl950. The new teachers are: Miss Carrie Shelton, in charge of the second grade and occupying an apartment.in the home of Judges R. V. Snead; Mr. A. A. Hawkins, who with his wife and two small children, are located near Flint_ Hill Mrs. Myra Wolf, who with her husband, has purchased the John Davis farm in the F. T. Valley; Miss Peggy Tyree, who is commuting from her home in Front Royal, and Mr. Wertz who, with his wife and small daughter, is occupying the home of Mrs. Ma, tilda Walker. Former teachers again on the staff are Miss Mary Jenkins, Mrs. Jessie Cox, Mrs. ^ Fisher Buford, Mrs. Stella Johnson Mrs. Hazel Corbin, Mr. Rob- »! ert Level, Mr. Robert Leonard and « Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Winfrey.
Mr. Hawkins, in addition to his regular schedule, will coach the girl’s basketball team and Mr. Wertz will coach the boys.
