Dear Mr. Barber,
I think you should be able to print this bit of Sperryville news exactly as it is. Because 1 am the only person who can give it to you, I am taking the liberty of writing you.
Mr. Roy L. Reeves was sworn in as acting postmaster Friday due to my resignation. I resigned and asked for an immediate release due to the health of my mother. I’m going to North Carolina tomorrow Sunday to see her. I was there recently, when I returned her from the hospital and it will be necessary for her to return to the hospital later.
I am sorry I can not come out to show you the letter I received asking me to reconsider my resignation.
There are a number of persons in the county who were interested in my appointment and think they should know exactly what happened and why. I am.
