Although we are earnestly concerned with the welfare and upbuilding of the community which we serve, we are also in the advertising business. It is the revenue from the advertising that we receive that enables us to serve the community. It’s churches, it’s schools and all other organizations.. It also gives us our <J|uly bread.
However, we understand very well the feelings of those who are opposed to alcohol and §re willing to cooperate. | We have from the Treasurer’s office of Rappahannockjjounty the following information, |
Rappahannock County receives from the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, $18,292.17.! The town of Washington, Va., receives $701.89, making a total of $18,994.06. This money is used by Rappahannock County in marly ways.
As we have said before, the Rappahannock News is willing to cooperate with those who are sinr cerely and earnestly opposed to the advertising of alcoholic beverages.
■When the people of Rappahannock are willing to refuse the $18,994.06 which they receive from the liquor business and make up to the county the $18,994.06 by personal contributions, or by increased taxation, the Rappahannock News will make sacrifices and discontinue the advertising of alocholic beverages .
