Richie, Director of the Department of Painting and Sculpture in New York,s Museum Of Modern Art, Oronrio Maldarelli, sculptor, and Ben Shahn, painter. ; From the works submitted, which in 1955. totaled over 900, the jury will select up to 20 work? to be awarded Certificates of Disjti net ion, which may also be .reef ommended for purchase by the Virginia Museum. Those works purf chased by the museum become part pf its permanent collection ojf works by Virginia artists. { In addition to the chance of rinuseum purchase, artists particif pating in the exhibition may be inf eluded in the two traveling exf hibitions composed of oils or waterf
