If you arc past forty it might be wise td get a keen sighted youngs ster to help you in checking cattle for lice. If your cattle are accustomed to being out in the snow and rain then a louse spray has little chance of causing pneumonia or colds. Cattle weakened by lice infestation are much more subject to disease than those free- of the parasite.
Recommendations for cattle lice ^control are:
A. 1% pounds of 25% lindane per 100 gallons water. „ B.7 pounds of 6% gamma isomer BHC per 100 gallons water, or '
C. 21 pound of 50% DDT in 100 gallons of water.
CAUTION:
Do not spray calves under 2 months of age with Lindane or BHC.
Do not use BHC or DDT on milking cows nor cattle soon to be slaughtered.
