to the BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY . ITEM 1. The need for a building that is, whether or not overcrowding exists in our high school at Washington. Inspection shows that the Rappahannock County High School is crowded now and wil be more crowded for the next four years. After 'this period, according to census'figures of our present grade schools, the Humber of high school students will be gradually reduced. It should be - noted that repeal of the compulsory education law would probably reduce enrollment by 5 to 10%. The rooms in our present high school are poorly arranged. Having, three primary grades in the high school building is a disadvantage to both groupsj The lunch room is sub-standard. The building needs coosiderable repairs.
ITEM 2, If found to be crowded the solution that they, would suggest. r
Since additional construction before next September is impossible, we ^ s , suggest that the county try to rent additional room nearby. We further suggest that another high school teacher v.-ould improve the matters of instruction and discipline, andtend to reduce confusion in the present . facilities. %
ITEM 3. If they determine that a building or buidings should be r , constructed, suggest locations, whether a large building should be built or a series of smaller buildings. .. I e r
We believe there is a need for new high school facilities and suggest that the Board of Supervisors and the School Board start on definite plans for same, on property now owned by the County near Flat Woods. We suggest the following order of construction: Grade land, provide ~ v water, build shop immediately; then proceed with class rooms, general f t5; purpose room, and lunch room. , , • ITEM 4. The cost of any building or buildings suggested.
