Aid For Flood Areas
Mrs. Ellen Martin, Field representative Eastern Area and Mrs. Martin J. O’Conner Vol Field (worker, American Red Cross were here Monday to urge the people of the county to ijespond as generously as possible jto the appeal for help in the flood areas of Virginia. ■Governor Thomas B. Stanley has declared the counties of Wise, Buthanan, Dickenson, Scotjt, tazewell and Bland, major disaster areas.
The Red Cross has set up headquarters in Bristol and a staff of 70 persons is on duty there. The situation at Grundy, Va. is critical with all communications doyvn except a r?dio station’s transijnitter.
