Lu#y Eld ridge Lillard, a daughter of Silas B. Lillard and Mildred Duncan. hi* wife, of Culpeper was born a “Hazelwood.” Culpeper County on October 24, 1861 and is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was married at “Hazelwood ’ on July 7. 1886 and moved to “Hawthorne” as a bride, where she lived for 58 years, until she sold the farm property ni 1946. Mrs. Miller attended Captain Penick’s School. Culpeper, Va.. and Belle Haven Institute, Alexandria.
Mrs. Miller was prominently connected with many old families of Culpeper and Rappahannock Counties. She was a niece of Capt. Robert R. Duncan of the Sixth Virginia Cavalrv, distinguished officer of the Confederacy. Mrs. Miler was closely related to William Jennings Bryan and as a girl visited in his home and that of his brother.
