Part I - continued from April 25 Not so many years ago there^ were at least four or five mills with their big water wheels in everv district of the county—and we have six districts. There were four within walking distance of the Town of Washington.
Raggarly’s Mill, less than a mile (rom town on what was called “The Old Warrenton ■Pike” now referred to as 211.
Schwartses' Mill, about a mile and a fourth from town on the “Old Mt. Salem Road.” The mill race ran all the way from the crossing at Elleislies’ Gate.
In addition to all the magic of an old mill it boasted a hydraulic ram. It sounded most important to a group of high school students that visited the mill even if they didn’t quite understand. (They all found out more about it later in this science class).
