Even ybur best driving companion might cast a questioning look in your direction if you declared that your eyeballs were vibrating and your sight blurred. But even if your conscience is clear and your health good, such things can happen—at least when you’re riding in a car. According to the Murine Company, your eyesight just isn’t as keen as usual when you arc riding in a car or bus. The vehicle’s vibrations are transferred to the eyes, causing an imperceptible blur which helps create, eye fatigue.

It is almost impossible for any American to escape from the printed word. The power of the press, at least in regard to quantity Is evidenced by the fact that each year Americans read approximately 18 and one-half billion newspapers, , four and one-half billion magazines, and 450 million books. Murine Company researchers say we pay 5 billion visits to the movies each year, and in our spare time we watch television.

Recent eve studies indicate that most persons can read uninterrupted for six hours wthout suffering eye strain or fatigue. It is unlikely that the studies were made in the average household filled with children or the word “uninterrupted” would not have been used.

The glances you direct at your neghbors, the hunt for a dropped glove, the search for the last kernel of popcorn, the wide and deep field of vision, all help to make movie watching in a theatre less eye fatiguing than viewing television. the Murine Company reports. Watching TV 'converges the eves steadily for a" long period on a small, static area. It is wise occasionally to look away from the screen and not sit too near to your TV set or at too much of ah angle.
