Auxiliary's Latest
Project Gets Praises
Members of the Washington Auxiliary to the Volunteer Fire Company are certainly to be congratulated on their latest project, the Beauty- Contest, to make money to help fight fire and protect the property of all the citizens of the community.
The Auxiliary,is few in numbers, although every woman in the town and district is eligible for membership and NEEDED.
However, the small group struggles on and f rom time to time is able to help in a very substantial way the Fire Company.
The (Committee for the contest worked hard to put on a show with a minimum of expense. There was no soliciting for prizes, etc. outside of the county.
The Beauty Contest paid its own way and was able to deposit in the bank $232.10 to be used in the protection of all property of all the people.
We have heard from various sources that special thanks are due Mrs. T. Morgan Johnston, Mrs. Wade H. Massie. Jr.. Mrs. B. R. Cox, Miss Marv Jenkins, Miss Ruby Jenkins. Mrs. Brown Miller. and Mrs. Mary B. Quaintance and a number of others. Congratulations to all of you!

Louise Brady of College Park, Md. and the Rev. and Mrs. Claude Cook and children Linda and Rick of lyovingston, Va. Rev. Cook took part in the service.
Miss Paula Miller has returned home from 4-H short course at Blacksburg after spending a week there.
Sunday guests for the day of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Cook were Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Walker and children Doug and Joyce of Falls Church, Va.
