Employers of household workers "are reminded by Miss Florence M. Schaffner, Field Representative at, the Alexandria Social Security Off ice, not to forget the deadline for reporting earnings of and paying the social security taxes for their domestic employees. The report for the quarter ending In December must be filed by January 31.
Each such employee who is paid $50.00 or more cash wages in the calendar quarter must be included in the report. Miss Schaffner said that the simplified err elope type of tax return which Internal Revenue Service provides is the easiest way for most employers to furnish the necessary information and to pay the social security tax. Each employee must be reported by name, social security account number and the amount of cash wages paid. The employee’s tax is 2*4 % and the employer’s share is 21/4%, a total of 4%% of the wagesjxajde(Beginning with wages^-pata in 1959 the tax will be 2Vz% for each.) ,
