Mystery Farm
Mrs Dibocy Eastham was die first to correctly identify the Mystery Farm last week as Thornton, Hill Farm, the home of Mr. and Mrs. James William Fletcher.
The 1000 acre farm is located two miles east of Sperryville and has been in the Fletcher family for three generations. It was first settled in 1730 as part of a large land grant to the Thorntons by Governor Alexander Spottswood.
Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher, their children Mildred Buckner, Catherine Meade, Louise Miller, James William, III and Martha Stuart Thornton and Mr. Fletcher’s mother, Mrs. William Meade Fletcher now live here. The main types of farming are raising cattle, horses and apples.
