Somewhere Along the line the shaggy head stopped shaking. Somewhere along thej line the upraised finger came down. And when the hair blew out of his eyes all he could see was a Federal court order. The voice that once thunder:, ed in metered cadence that no illegal court decision would force integration within thh boundries of Virginia, now meekly muttered, there is nothing I can do. My hands are tied. -

Some say the Governor sold out. Others say he has joined forces With Civil Rights Commissioner Battle in an attempt to wrest control of the Democratic Party in Virginia from Senator Byrd. Time will. tell. But this much is certain he came in like a lion? and he's going out like a lamb.

Now the counties must fend for themselves. Arlington, Atexapdriaand Norfolk have come under unlawful Federal control. However, while Governor Almond was surrendering the rights of his State, the people of Warren County have asserted their individual rights in a fashion that rpvveals clearly the illegality of the Supreme *Court"s final.order. ‘ ,

Perhaps the Governor’s planning commission will com? up with an acceptable solution. It should be acceptable to Mr. Almond. He packed it with! Almond men. Events of the past two months have certainly proved an old adage ^‘Never believe a politician.”
