At Massie’s Comer: the intersection of Routes 211 and 522, a tractor-trailer turned over and spread its cargo of apple butter, apple sauce and apple jelly, of all things, onto the highway Sunday evening about 6:45 p.m.
The White truck, operated by Charles William Leake of Sperryville and owned by Thrift RendaL in Front Royal was rented by, the Old Virginia Packing House to transport their products. Making a turn at the intersection the truck rolled over on Route 211, causing approximately $7,000 damage. Leake was not injured according to Trooper W. A. Buntin who investigated the accident. «, Leake, who has had a number of wreck has one reckless driving charge against him and appealed another count which will come before the Circuit Court in the November session.
