Note, if you will, that Jesus never did tell us much about God, “the creator”, if ,anything. He didn't tell us how to raise better craps; Sow to raise better stock. He didn't even tell us that the world was round; that steam could be used for power; that men could use the oil that was under the ground, nor the coal that was to be found there also. He didn’t tell us anything about mathematics— not even the simplest formula!
He did tell us about the “spiritual dimension” of God. And he demonstrated such a dimension “through" his life! And it is tkii dimension of God, as found in the Jesus of Nazareth, that we so desperately need.
Even in a season of Thanksgiving, we too often find ourselves pausing as one running an obstacle courae—to be thrown back into the race on the morrow. And, oh ten times, it would seem that the season of Thanksgiving has, ss its only reason for being, a hurried pause in a hurried life—with life, and all hopes of life, focused upon a very dead-turkey.
Surely, there must be more to it than that! And there is. Thank God for what He has done “for” us? Certainly. But, in a world so demanding_in a world that needs us_perhaps it would be well for us to thank God also for what He can do “through” us!
