Should activity be promising a the Lancaster Stock Yards at the time this will be stop no. 2 around noon the first day. Otherwise two farms in the Manheim-Marietta area of Pennsylvania will be visited in the afternoon having large feeding operations including steers, hogs, broilers, layers and in one case a 50 cow dairy. Buses will arrive at Harrisburg in time to see some of the night-time features of the Farm Show. Next day those making the tour will have 5-6 hours at the Farm Show, which according to Lucio Kilby is fabulous and most worthwhile. The tour will cost approximately $18 including transportation, meals and lodging. Those wishing to make the tour are beng asked to make a non-refundable deposit of $8 to cover non cancelable reservations which must be made well in advance. The tour committee says transportation reservations, etc. will be on a first com e-serve basis so lets hear from you promptly if you plan to go. Deadline for reservations will be announced at a later date.

CHIMNEYS
Recently a Pappahannock housewife told me of having had a Hue fire in her home three or four year* ago from creosote which had collected in the flue. The local .fire company was called, put it out but timbers around the flue had been charred. The insurance company put in a new flue which, in a comparative short tome, is now almost clogged with creosote. My leter of inquiry to C. D. Wheary, Extension Housing Specialist, seeking information on how to prevent accumulation of creosote in chimneys and how to get it out resulted in getting the following which should be of interest to others.
