Auto To Collide
Most of this area was covered with snow which fell steadily all day Sunday, but much of the precipitation melted because of moderate temperatures and ground already wet from rain. Front Royal had as much as seven inches and through Rappahannock it was very spotty, while in Culpeper the snow did not stick.
One accident, as a result of slippery highways occurred six miles west of Sperryville on Route 211 when a 56 G.M.C. bus driven by Paul William McGee of Roanoke and owned by the Greyhound Corporation and a 56 Ford owned and operated by Alvin Paul Painter of Luray collided. The Paintervehicle skidded into the bus on the snow-covered mountain and Painter received a cut lip and chipped tooth. Property damage was estimated at $350, according to W. A. Buntin, State Trooper, who investigated the accident.

Friday, January 13, the Republican dinner meeting at Cab Inn was well attended. After a delicious dinner was served by Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Thompsen, and the regular business, including the reading of a letter recently received from Richard Nixon, a very informative speech was made by Mr. I. N. Dovel.
The main point brought out was the laxity of Virginians to exercise their privilege to vote. Statistics show that of the 2,419,839 who are of voting age, only 771,449 voted in the presidential election.
In our own county there are 3273 adults but only 975 , votes were cast. This does not make for a real representation of our state’s citizens, according to Mr. Dovel.
