In Rappahannock l2ounty Cir- _ cuit Court Friday, January 13, Mrs. Kate Scott of Huntly, on behalf of her eight year old daughter, Barbara Ann Scott, brought suit * for $50,000 against Dale Raymond Barnes of Charleston, Air Force Base, Charleston S. C. for injuries sustained by Barbara. Ann whert she was struck |>y an automobile operated by Barnes. The accident occurred on Route 522 near Mills Store at Huntly,* Va. on August 25, 1959. Barbara Ann Scott was walking along the highway when she was hit, receiving a nine inch laceration over her forehead which required the removal of three fourth ounce of brain tissue from the tip of her right frontal lobe and will require, a plate in her skull in the future.
After deliberating for hours, the jury could not reach a decision. Jurors were E. B. Updike, Thomas R. Taylor, John Tapp, Raymond M, Johnson, Raymond Sutphin, Charles H. Mills and Connor Jenkins.
