Glenn Updike of Washington and Jean Lillard, Flint Hill, representatives from Rappahannock County, attended the Twelfth Leadership Training Camp for 4-H members held August 17th20th at Camp Farrar, Virginia Beach. The Rappahannock Farm Bureau sponsored the trip, a most interesting and educational activity.
On Thursday and Friday morning they heard lectures on such topics as “Civic Duties,” Civil Defense Preparedness," “A World Full of Leaders, etc., under well known instructors, including Dr. Maynard C. Heckel, Extension Training Specialist; Earl Shiflet, Executive Secretary, Virginia Association of Electric Cooperatives; Douglas Moore, State Coordinator, Office of Civil Defense; and Mrs. Mary Thompson, Associate Extension Food Specialist.
Fun at the beach was enjoyed twice daily by all and other activities available were table tennis, Volly ball, horse shoes and fishing.
