The Rappahannock Lions wish to take this opportunity to express their thanks to hose citizens of the county who so eagerly entered into the program for relief of the Texas disaster victims, a program which was originated and carried out by Virginia-Lions Clubs with the help of many organizations, companies and individuals.
Response of Rappahannock was most prompt and generous and the Club is happy to report that all contributions left the county enroue to the final destination prior to noon today, Thursday; 14 September.
It will pjbhably take many days to fill out the entire story of how it was done but it should be of interest to report that so far as is now known, Virginia Lions Clubs are he only such service club to have undertaken such a program. It was originated on Sunday vning and the f^ct that within so short a time over 20 railer-truck loads of food, clothing, and bedding could be on the way should be a source of pride and pleasure to all who participated. ■“Credit must be given to the White House, the Governor 5, Mansion, the Army, Navy, Air Force, many commercial firms such as the American Trucking Association, Gulf Oil So., Standard Oil Co., and others who-have assisted, but Rappahannock Lions arc pleased to have had a part and wish to share their pride with those of the community who were so promply generous.
