The girl’s basketball team is being severely handicapped in Rappahannock County.. The reason is not what you might first think. We have the school facilities, the best we’ve ever had.a good court, an excellent lighting system, passable dressing rooms. . Transportaton is our trouble. We have girls who want to play, but can’t find transportation to and from practice. This hurts our county in two ways_it keeps our county from looking as good as it might when we play other county teams. It hurts our county in that our girls are being denied an opportunity to express their loyalty to their county and school
The lack of transportation also hurts the girl. She needs to “belong” to something big. She needs to feel like she has a place in our county.
Some adults will say our girls practice too much therefore basketball is being overemphasized. Let’s look at the facts. Our maximum effort is four parctice periods a week; two One hour thirty minute periods and two, one hour fifteen
