Prior laws granted compen sation t o peacetime veterans who were disabled by In jury or disease Incurred In or aggra vated by active service in line of duty arid who were releas ed from active duty under conditions other than dishonor able. Payments are based on the degree of disability. The Veterans Readjustment Benefits Act of 1966 (The Cold War G. I. Bill) provides the same presumptive provisions that previously were afforded wartime veterans only. These provisions provide that veterans meeting the service requirements of this law will be presumed to have been in sound condition at the time of entry Into service except for defects noted for purposes of determinative action on claims based on disabilities due to or aggravated by service.
