juniors class Kim Estes was first. Both are of Sperryville.
In the horticultural division. Mrs. Francis Leonard of] Amissville took a first in single peonies and Mrs. C. E.Johnson Jr. of Sperryville was second. In double peonies Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Patzig took both places. Mr. and Mrs. Patzig took firsts in bearded and Dutch Iris and second in the bearded specimen also. They are of Sperryville. Mrs. J. L. Yowell and Mrs. L. J. Turner of Washington were first and second respectively in beardless Iris. Mrs. Helen Kilby was first in pansies and broad leaved evergreens and second in rambler roses. Mrs. R. E. Wood, Sperryville had a first in a hybrid tea rose and Mrs. J. L. Yowell was second, while Mrs. Wood also placed first with a rambler rose. Mrs. Gilbert Cosden of Sperryville and Mrs. 0. C. Mitchell of Amissville were first and second in potted plants.
Byrd Eastham Is Fauquier Honor Student
Byrd Eastham of Hume has been named valedictorian of his 1969 graduating class at Fauquier High School. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Eastham of Hume and grandson of Mrs. E. M. Eastham of Flint Hill.
Byrd has been accepted at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg and will enter his freshman year there this fall.
Mrs. Smith Entertains
Bridge Group Monday
The Flint Hill Bridge Club and additional guests met with Mrs. Galley W. Smith, Jr. Monday evening. Prizes were won by Mrs. Paul Miller, Mrs. Joel Jenkins, Mrs. Frank Spalding and Mrs. Earl Edmunds. Others present were Mrs. Emory Russell, Mrs. Locke Burford, Mrs. James Massie, Mrs. Brue Wood, Mrs. John S. Browning, Mrs. Thomas Massie, Mrs. Harry Lee Smith, and Mrs. Thomas Eastham.
