Perdues Featured at
Local PTA Meeting
Chuck and Nan Perdue of Woodville will head the program at the regular PTA meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 18 at Rappahannock County Elementary School. Hie meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held in the school auditorium. The Perdues will present a program of folk music and information concerning folklore.
Chuck Perdue is a native of Georgia and his wife, Nan, is from California. They have been singing folk songs for the past 15 years and have presentee programs on television, at concerts, festivals, clubs and military bases. He is presently doing field work for a Ph.D in folklore. *
All patrons and interested residents are invited to attend the meeting.
One School Sale
OK'd, One Rejected
The Sperryville and Washington school buildings were sold at public auction Saturday with the sale subject to approval by the School Board and Circuit Court. At the regular meeting of the School Board held Tuesday night, the sale of the Sperryville property was approved and that of the Washington property was rejected and must be resold. The Sperryville school building and land was sold to Clifford Miller, III for $13,600. This has been approved. The Washington building and property received a high bid of $10,000 by William M. Carrigan; however at this meeting Tuesday night the School Board rejected this bid. The Washington property will be resold at public auction on Saturday, November 22 beginning at 2 a.m. in front of the courthouse in Washington,
