Achievement Night, the annual meeting of the Home Demonstration Clubs of Rappahannock County was held Tuesday night at the Flint Hill Fire Hall.
After the welcome from, the Flint Hill representative Mrs. W. A. Gentry, the following Invocation was given by Mrs. Ida Trump which typifies the aims of the Clubs:
In Exodus 35:15 we read: “And all the women that were wise-hearted did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen.”
These women were used to spinning and weaving for their families but this was for a very special reason! for the Lord’s House, and so they were spinning the lovely colors Blue, Purple and Scarlet, as well as the plain colors for the background.
Most of our homemakers these days do not know much about spinning and weaving, and certainly it is not a usual part of their daily lives; but we too are spinning fabrics that will last forever.
All the things we do make up these threads. BLUE — the color of the sky reminding us of loyalty, honor, worship and truth. Have you spun any blue today?
The SCARLET threads of sacrifice. Sacrifice takes many forms; when the busy homemaker takes time to help a neighbor, or takes part in some community project, it is often a real sacrifice.
